Cabo Verde

Main strategic objectives of the work developed by ACTION/Portugal in Cabo Verde:

  • Extension of coverage both at the level of benefits of the compulsory social protection scheme and of assistance and social inclusion programmes;
  • Institutionalising and improving the coverage and adequacy of non-contributory benefits, in collaboration with other development partners;
  • Capacity building to promote good governance, articulation and complementarity of the social protection system and the management of social protection statistics.

  • National Policies: Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development (PEDS):
    Goal 3: ensure social inclusion and reduce social and regional inequalities and asymmetries.
  • United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) – Strategic Priority 1:
    • Outcome 1.1: By 2022 the population of Cabo Verde, particularly the most vulnerable, will have improved access to and started using more quality services in health and education, food and nutrition security and benefit more from gender-sensitive social and child protection services across the life cycle.
    • Outcome 1.1.4: Institutional capacities of social protection and child protection systems are strengthened to ensure inclusive and equitable access to services and benefits for the most vulnerable groups, in particular children and women.
